Jetzt kommt Jörg Blumtritts Präsentation zu „Data driven storytelling: from facts to narratives“.
Postmodernism has taught us to distrust facts and look out for constructs. Data scientists like Kate Crawford have pointed out the problem of big data being inherently biased. But it is no law of nature that data-driven storytelling has to be positivistic. Data does tell stories. We can use it as illustrations for our narrative, to make our story more graphic, to persuade people by drawing a vivid image, instead of insisting that facts would prove us correct. So let us use data as metaphors to speak to our audience in words that make sense to them.
