Der Alamo Square ist für mich ein ruhiges Fleckchen zum Ausruhen mit Blick auf die Painted Ladies und die Skyline von San Francisco – wenn nicht gerade Touristenbusse genau deswegen einschwärmen :-)
Painted Ladies is a term used for Victorian and Edwardian houses and buildings painted in three or more colors that embellish or enhance their architectural details. The term was first used for San Francisco Victorian houses by writers Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen in their 1978 book Painted Ladies – San Francisco’s Resplendent Victorians.

San Francisco ist eine meiner Lieblingsstädte neben beispielsweise Honolulu und Mainz. Nach drei Jahren wird es wieder Zeit zu einem Ausflug. Mal sehen, wann es tatsächlich klappt.

Aloha Friday
Heute ist Freitag und damit Casual oder auch Aloha Friday:
The tropical roots of Casual Friday go back to at least 1947 in Hawaii, when the city of Honolulu allowed workers to wear the Aloha shirt part of the year. The term Aloha Friday dates from the 1960s, when the shirts were worn on Fridays instead of normal business attire.
Ich liebe es übrigens ein „Aloha Shirt“ zu tragen – es muss auch nicht Freitag sein :-)
